Traceability

  • Insist on mines and mine operators to identify and report thoroughly
  • Demand that lots or parcels from mines be recorded and sealed with ethical stones material
  • Ensure alterations to merchandise and operations are clearly recorded in the Ethical-Stones database
  • Maintain a solid due diligence process and archive of legal documents (mining permits, certificates of origin, invoices, tax forms...)

  • Recommend working conditions according to ILO Standards

  • Encourage investment for safe means of production and employee training

  • Promote innovative mining technologies to improve the extraction and quality of stones
  • Solely use Cedar oil to treat Emeralds and ensure all these methods are recorded
  • Sample and control gemstones via recognised Swiss laboratories

  • Forbid open sky mining
  • Control if no limit of chemicals and explosives.
  • Combining mining activities with ecotourism

  • Support the development of local industries related to gemstones valuation

  • Encourage the repatriation of revenue to the country of origin
